They do serve some value when the person posting them is capable of watching anime raw, as it can then serve as a preview before fansubbers release subs. I'm not one of those people, though, so episode posts are a little pointless except when I actually do have something to discuss beyond "here's the episode; here's some screencaps." Seems as good a theory as any to me.
